Of Slots and Sluts:

:
The immediate cause of G.M.’s distress, of course, is the surging price of oil, which has put a chill on the sale of gas-guzzling sport utility vehicles and trucks. The company’s failure to invest early enough in hybrids is another culprit.
....
But none of G.M.’s management miscues was so damaging to its long-term fate as the rich pensions and health care that robbed General Motors of its financial flexibility and, ultimately, of its cash.
....
But the automakers wanted no part of socialized care. They seemed not to notice, as a union expert wrote, that if Washington didn’t provide social insurance it would be “sought from employers across the collective bargaining table.”
....
General Motors got into the dubious habit of steadily increasing worker benefits. In 1961, G.M. was able to get away with a skimpy 2.5 percent increase in wages by also guaranteeing a 12 percent rise in pensions.
....
By the 1980s, it was clear that the Big Three automakers faced a serious threat from Japan.

COMMENT: America’s corporate managers have become just as myopic and corrupt as America's political managers. Americans are either at the slots or the sluts, where the American Dream has turned to easy wins and quick kills, rather than to nourishing a civilization that can be stable, sustainable, and allow us to pursue our surpassage. Red Alert Moderates may be our last best hope.

"I am very concerned about the future of the country."

Until I went into the Army, there seemed to be sense in the Country.
Sometime in 1967, about when MLK was assassinated, half the population misplaced their brains, becoming zombies.
For many, the loss probably became irretrievable about the time Bobby was assassinated.
I suppose they felt America was lost, so they may as well drop out or "reinvent" themselves.
I did not appreciate this until I returned from Korea in 1969.
If the Country survives 8 more years, the crazed zombie Marxists of our generation will have moved on.
But, if Obama is elected, kiss goodbye to national defense, free speech, substantive law, and free enterprise.
BTW, Michelle Malkin, today, explains the agenda of La Raza, the real sponsor of that bill.
La Raza, at least, has a plan. Much of the rest of the country has deposited brains in an elevator that closed its door, locked tight until the store is burned down.
The remaining half of us had best get to the fire hoses.
Mexicans are great.
It's the illegals and La Raza that are mucking us over.
Subject: Re: CNN 2 min video should be mandatory viewing for every US Citizen
I wonder which Washington turd blossom sponsored this piece of excrement?
The only therapy may be to fire hose him with too much of what he takes to be a good thing.
May he learn to seek more appealing aromas once constituents fire hose him with his own favorite "honey."
