New Age Politics:
It’s A New Age. Essentially, the parties of Democrats and Republicans that we had years ago no longer exist. We may use some old labels, but our political parties are new.
Speech codes are everywhere, and both Free Speech and Free Association are endangered.
MASTICATORS: The message of Neo-Democrats (Marxists) is that Earth exists to be divvied up among The Community, and Government exists to ensure there are no property rights that escape detailed regulation and/or taxation.
MARGINALS: The message of Neo-Libertarians is that Earth exists to be used however we want, and Government exists only to protect rights to properties within its borders.
MARAUDERS: The message of Neo-Republicans is that Earth belongs to whomever can reduce it to control, and Government exists only to enforce property rights.
MODERATES: However, the message of Conservative Moderates remains: that God leases Earth to us, and Government exists to ensure safety deposits for civilizing conservation of such leases.

IRONIC ODDITIES:
Jacksonian Democrats wanted that “the government should be governed under a strict adherence to the Constitution to allow law-abiding citizens to go about their business without governmental interference" (after all, how can democracy flourish absent common respect for originating, i.e. constitutional, principles?).
And original Republicans were for fair trade (after all, how can a Republic remain a Republic if it does not respect its own territorial integrity?).
See http://everything2.com/e2node/Evolution%2520of%2520American%2520political%2520parties%2520from%2520the%2520Revolution%2520to%2520the%2520Reconstruction: “erect a tariff that would protect the United States' growing industry.”
So, why do people who do not believe in fidelity to a Constitution now call themselves "Democrats," and why do people who favor America for trading purposes no more than any other part of the globe now call themselves "Republicans"?
It would be much more honest were Democrats to call themselves "Evolving Hednoists" and Republicans to call themselves "Faithless Dealers."

MARGINALIZING SUBSTANTIVE WISDOM:
When it comes to important issues of the day, Machiavellian Business, Media, Academia, and Government care less about substance than about entertaining us with Marxist, Orwellian, and Madison Avenue techniques of body language, persuasive posturing, and double speak.
Force of attitude and emotion with which one blogswarms in ad hominem attacks with one’s buddies comes to be more important than substance when it comes to our “education” — or rather conditioning.
For presentation to our attention-deficit society, there abound simplistic slogans, cliches, ad hominem slurs, and distortions of distortions, repetitively employed as if the essence of wisdom. Examples: McCarthism; Swiftboating.

The final obscure signer, the man who epitomizes American courage, was Abraham Clark of New Jersey. The British captured two of his sons holding them captive on the infamous prison hulks in New York Harbor. The British offered to release his sons if he recanted his signing of the Declaration of Independence. His answer: "No."

Obama the Postmodern Candidate
By David Bueche
Barack Obama has earned his place in history as the first postmodern candidate for president. He belongs to the deconstructionist school; his "texts" have no fixed meaning. He is able to take varying positions and claim consistency.
....
The beauty of shamelessly appropriating all sides of an issue is that you're never really wrong. The problem is -- should Mr. Obama get elected - he will have to pick one side. You can't simultaneously support and abandon Iraq. You can't prohibit the Iranians from acquiring nuclear weapons but refuse to consider using force to stop them. You can't have it both ways -- ask George Bush, I'm sure he could give you an earful on the topic of hard choices.
If Barack Obama becomes the 44th President there will quickly come a day when he realizes that, although his buddies in media and academia really love this postmodern journey he's on, the rest of world looks to the President of the United States for fixed principles, clear convictions, and a well-grounded view of reality. Given what we've seen to date it's far from clear that Mr. Obama is intellectually or psychologically disposed to meet the challenge.
Political Jujitsu:
Obama surpasses “black belt” status for “political Jujitsu” (doing nothing, while saying everything; claiming credit for the good, while denying responsibility for the bad).
QUOTE SNIPPETS:
See http://www.slate.com/id/2196190/; http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2008/07/what_has_obama_accomplished.html:
“Obama is not noted for sticking to a position or a person once it (or he) becomes a political liability.
....
The next president will have to be something of a political Superman, a man of steel who can tell the American people that they will have to pay more for less -- higher taxes, lower benefits of all kinds -- and deal in an ugly way when nuclear weapons seize the imagination of madmen.
The question I posed to that prominent Democrat was just my way of thinking out loud. I know that Barack Obama is a near-perfect political package. I'm still not sure, though, what's in it.”

COMMENT: Well, what substantive exists by which should Obama should be judged, if not the record of facts regarding those from whom he sought out his mentoring, financing, and springboarding?
If he dances with “who brought him,” then who brought him (and what does the record say about their agenda)?
